I was a driver for twenty four years – the last eight of which have been for Gee’s Haulage, In January 2010 I was offered a position within the transport office, the new role was varied, but now I have a specific and more important part to play in the everyday running of our very busy haulage company, my new role focuses more on the maintenance side of the company, the day to day running of my role involves the good management of invoicing of parts the purchasing of vehicles and to ensure that all our vehicles are in a safe and well maintained condition, this could be from breakdowns to the servicing of each of our vehicles, it’s such a buzz; no two days are ever the same.

I’ve been with Gee’s Haulage since June 2002 says Dave; I work very successfully within the transport office and love my job, we compliment each other’s skill set - I have to say, if our customers ask for something different, we try hard to make it happen for them, whether it’s a home delivery problem or an awkward load, we always do our best.

It’s a great job as there’s so much variety. You’re on the go all day long and there’s a real get up and go attitude to it all the time. Sometimes it can be difficult to unwind at the end of a long day when you know your drivers are still out there on the road.

My original position within Gee’s Haulage was predominantly just an office clerk; I say just, even back then when I started work here in January 2002, it was a tough demanding job.

With a lot of hard work and determination, and ensuring all my work was correct and proving my position, I was offered the position of office manageress in January 2011. I am, along with all our staff, a valued member of the team and have worked through the ranks to this position which I am doing to the best of my ability, I am always happy to help out in various areas of the business, should the need arise.
